The project is to undertake fundamental research into the principles of collaborative consumption / sharing economy and advanced understanding of prosumer energy to deliver a peer-to-peer energy trading/sharing (P2P-ETS) platform.
This workshop was the second gathering of the project participants after their first visit to Korea last January. I-ON, Gachon University, Konkuk University, KEPCO KDN and KERI (Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute) from Korea joined this round of workshop and University of Bath, University of Oxford, Imperial College London and Manchester Metropolitan University from UK also joined.

According to New York Times, a project called Brooklyn Microgrid launched as of 13 Mar. A US startup “LO3 Energy” designed this project and there currently is about 50 participants. This project is signing up residents and businesses to a virtual trading platform that will allow solar-energy producers to sell excess-electricity credits from their systems to buyers in the group, who may live as close as next door.
The project is still in its early stages but its implications could be far reaching. The idea is to create a kind of virtual, peer-to-peer energy trading system and a new era of “Energy Prosumer” had dawned.
The whole world is watching “energy market” and I-ON expects to become a front runner in the market by providing sustainable prosumer solutions and services.
